Meet
Dr. Wood

Christine Wood, MD, FAAP, CEDS (Fellow of American Academy of Pediatrics, Certified Eating Disorder Specialist) has been practicing general pediatrics over 30 years in the San Diego area. Since the publication of her book in 2000, How to Get Kids to Eat Great and Love It!, she has been involved in the area of pediatric nutrition.  This expertise has included: serving on local and national committees, speaking at conferences, writing articles for magazines and publishing in medical journals on a variety of pediatric nutrition topics.  This has evolved over the years, and she has gained an expertise in the field of eating disorders. She is a member of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP) and received her CEDS certification, which is a certification status from IAEDP that entails passing a certification test and demonstrating expertise and contributions over a minimum of 5 years in the field of eating disorders.  She has been the Medical Consulting physician at Center for Discovery Residential Treatment Center in San Diego, which is a 6 bed residential facility treating females from 16-26 years of age with eating disorders since opening in 2013.  As of June 2022, she is transitioning from doing general pediatrics to focusing as a consultant for patients with eating disorders only.  Center for Discovery has appointed her as the National Physician Liaison to oversee physicians working in the eating disorder facilities throughout the country. 

Other Accomplishments:

  • Served as the Co-Chair for the San Diego County Childhood Obesity Initiative from 2009 through 2015.

  • From 2013-2016, worked with the Institute for Healthy Childhood Weight Steering Committee, a national level committee formulated from the American Academy of Pediatrics to shape how pediatricians confront achieving healthy weight in children. 

  • Numerous articles and interviews which have been published in Newsweek, Parenting, Parents, Baby Talk, and Redbook, among others.

  • Served as Medical Liaison for the San Diego Chapter of IAEDP 2010-2013.
